Description:

This stunning photo display has been created to show the importance and beauty of biodiversity outside your front door.

It highlights the fact that biodiversity is not simply an abstract scientific concept or a pet project of the greenies. In the murray Darling it supports a number of natural ecosystem processes and services, such as air quality, climate, clean water, pollination, and prevention of erosion. Indeed a lose of biodiversity is a loss in business opportunity and a threat to this region’s long term economic sustainability.

You will see water beetles hunting fish, aerial shots of pink algae staining huge salt lakes, goannas fighting for dominance, rare and endangered flora, and ferocious but secretive marsupial mice. Next to each picture is some text explaining a bit about what you are seeing – explaining how the picture relates to biodiversity or how the photo was taken.

The displays show a fascinating insight into the world that is just outside our front door
